How to find the right Coach

Finding Your Coach

I have personal flying experience with the following VFS and dynamic top coaches, it’s quite a prominent list, and I am happy to share my experience with you if you are looking for a recommendation. Just send me a quick message describing what you want to learn. Or you just contact them directly (see their emails or you also find them on Facebook).

Federico Rawa
Rafael Schwaiger
Fabian Raidel
Gregor Van den Eynden
Raphaël Coudray
Léo Blanchon
Martin Dedek
Čestmír Frič

As mentioned, I fly VFS and dynamic, but if you want to fly FS than you have to fly with the following two coaches. I did not fly in the tunnel with them (as I do not fly on my belly………) but I know these two are awesome coaches. You find their profiles below.

Pete Allum
Ivan Quadrio

If you are a super awesome coach and are interested in being listed, just text me and we can check and cross schedules and fly a bit together.

Federico Rawa

Fede is my main and favorite coach.

Located in Empuriabrava you can get drilled by him both in the sky and in the tunnel. Fede is a multiple skydiving record holder, a successful tunnel competition flyer and one of the most experienced coaches you can find. I really like his powerful flying style - it’s pretty awesome to watch him in action. He’s a studied engineer and you will notice this with his structured approach to the training. He wants you to understand the wind and the physics behind it. His didactics are super strong and he sees immediately if he can push you or if you need a break to settle down the learning experience.

One of the most professional ones I met.

Rafael Schwaiger

Rafa has evolved from one of the biggest talents to one of the world's best flyers in record time. Watching him flying is just amazing.

He is a world-class flyer both in the sky and in the tunnel and his flying style is quite unique - you can tell it’s him from far away.

In terms of coaching he is one of the most professional coaches I know. No matter if he's sick, had a 10-h-shift already, or whatever, his coaching is always at the same super high level. I personally really like consistency of quality, and with Rafa you definitely get that.

The same level of dedication he expects of his students, but no worries, flying with him is super fun, you always see a smiling face in front of you (except you screw up a layover or so…). I would like to fly more with him but he’s always on the run - so be sure to reserve a slot with him.

He's located in Dubai, but you find him also in St. Petersburg or in Warsaw.

Fabian Raidel

“If u have a problem, if no one else can help and if u can find him: Maybe u can hire Fabian Raidel.”

Fabian is a legend and true bad-ass and actually does not need an introduction. I don’t think that there is anybody in the skydiving or tunnel world who has not heard his name. Fabian contributed in the creation of this sport like few others.

Before I flew the first time with him, somebody told me “Fabian creates survivors” – haha, I can definitely confirm that in a very positive way. To list Fabian’s successes is beyond the framework here, but after several years working in Dubai on a world-class level and former “Volare-freefly” and “Maktoum” team member he is now back in Europe focusing more on his business life. Fabian will manage the Wind-o-bona tunnel in Berlin, which will open in autumn 2016. Like this, he’s coaching less and less – but if you get the chance to fly with him: Go for it!

Gregor Van den Eynden

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”.

If you want that somebody pushes you out of your comfort zone, Gregor is the perfect coach for you. No "buts" are accepted. I love the concept of people deliver either results or excuses - and Gregor is not accepting the latter one. No excuses - get your results.

He is an extremely experienced flyer with a long list of successes both in skydiving and in tunnel flying: VFS National Champion, FF European Silver Medalist, FF World Bronze Medalist, 4th and 5th place World Championship VFS. As a former Babylon team member he is a skydiver on world-class level with more than 7000+ jumps and active as load organizer around the globe.

Located in Empuriabrava he’s pushing you relentlessly both in the tunnel and in the sky. Be sure that you progress fast with his approach.

Raphaël Coudray

Raph is certainly one of the best skydivers and tunnel flyers in the world. Specialized in VFS and dynamic flying he’s active as competition flyer as well as team trainer. He’s also training the Empuriabrava skydiving staff and is a former member of “Team4Speed” and current member of the “Fly Warriors”. His list of successes is impressive (just to name a few): 1st at the Wind Games Empuriabrava in 2015 and 2nd in 2016 2-way dynamic, 1st at the World Championship in Prague 2015 4-way dynamic, 1st at Dubai Clash of Champions 2015 4-way dynamic, 3 x VFS World Champion (2010, 2012, 2014) and 4 x European VFS and FF European Champion (2007, 2009, 2011, 2013).

He insists on using a proper and clean technic and teaches you the fundamentals in a very accurate way. Raph prepares you for going fast and going precise.

Léo Blanchon

Léo is one of the biggest talents in this sport. Flying in the tunnel for 2 years only, he won already everything that you can win. 1st at the Wind Games Empuriabrava 2015 and 2016 2-way dynamic, 1st at the World Championship 2015 in Prague 4-way dynamic, 1st at Dubai Clash of Champions 2015 4-way dynamic.

On top of that, Léo is a skydiving coach with more than 1.000 jumps, former member of the Team “Fly Warriors” and current member of “The Bro’s” and he is a skydiving record holder.

Apart from his impressive successes, flying with Léo is super nice and fun, he’s always in a good mood and happy when his students progress.

Martin Dedek

Martin is a true bad-ass flyer, originally coming from Prague. He moved a few months ago to Liège in Belgium to lead as Chief Instructor the world’s biggest tunnel and train the staff there.

Martin is an active competition flyer both in the sky and in the tunnel, he won the White Nights in St. Petersburg in 4-way dynamic, was 2nd in the World Championship in 4-way dynamic and he is Czech National Champion in tunnel flying. He’s a member of the “Mad Ravens” and he loves going really fast. Training with him is highly efficient, super fun and he’s bringing things straight-to-the-point.

Even though based in Liège you can find him in different camps within Europe. Make sure you meet this guy for some fast and fun flying.

Čestmír Frič

Flying since 2013, Čestmír is a superstar in the Czech tunnel flying scene - and not only there. I met people across Europe who told me that they travel to Prague to fly with him.

His briefing and de-briefing is straight and clear, the flying is super smooth and he makes sure that every student leaves the tunnel with a success feeling. He is an active and successful competition flyer, he was competing in almost all important D4W competitions and was 2 times 2nd in 4-way dynamic and once 2nd in 2-way dynamic. He won the Bedford Bodyflight Challenge in 2014 in 2-way freestyle as another career highlight.

Čestmír is located in Prague and if you go there don’t miss to fly with him. He is an awesome flyer and a super talented coach.

Pete Allum

I was thinking days about what I can write about Pete.

He’s just amazing.
He’s a true legend.
Everybody loves Pete.

And even the most experienced and professional skydivers consider flying with Pete as an honor. He is one the most respected people in our sport. No need to say more.

For me it’s a privilege that he is my canopy coach. Apart from training rookies, he’s teaching canopy flying and FS flying (tunnel and sky) to top athletes around the world. He is very approachable to flyers at every stage in their learning progress so just send him a message and take the opportunity to learn from him!

Ivan Quadrio

Ivan is a real punk and rebel at heart. A sunny soul and a spirited top athlete from Italy.

He is active as competition flyer and also as FS team trainer on international level. Currently he’s training the military of Oman. His list of successes is long and include among others: 3 x National Champion FS 4-way, 2 x National Champion FS 8-way, 3rd World Championship FS 8-way. Despite his work abroad he’s once in a while in Europe, so be sure to reserve a slot if you wanna become a FS champ.
